Joel Magen on the Tales of a Red Clay Rambler Podcast

This week on the Tales of a Red Clay Rambler Podcast I have an interview with Joel Magen. A potter for more than 30 years, Joel owns and operates Dark Horse Pottery in Davenport, CA. In our interview we talk about Marguerite Wildenhain's influence on California studio pottery, how ceramics fit into the back-to-the-land movement of the 1960's, and the evolution of Dark Horse Pottery. To see more examples of Joel's work please visit www.darkhorsepottery.com

Dark Horse Pottery is nestled into the seaside town of Davenport, CA. Located between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay, Magen's Dark Horse Pottery is a short drive from some of the best waves in Northern California. I love this picture of Joel's kiln shed and his collection of Ward Coffey custom surf boards.
